This photo shows the clamping blocks being used to hold a board securely so that biscuit slots may be cut.  This eliminates the time consuming job of using conventional clamps to anchor the work, as you can release and clamp the next board in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.  Notice that the vacuum blocks are not limited to holding your work just on the edge of the bench.
